These Terms govern your use of the beatid.me platform, operated by BEAT ID LTD, a company incorporated in England and Wales (Companies House number 17175762), registered address: Office 18878, 182-184 High Street North, London, England, E6 2JA. By accessing or using beatid.me you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform. See also the Marketplace Terms, Refund Policy, and Privacy Policy.
1. About beatid.me
beatid.me lets DJs create a public profile, EPK, booking enquiry system, fan subscription service, and music marketplace to sell digital downloads directly to fans, and lets fans and promoters interact with DJ profiles.
2. Who Can Use beatid.me
You must be at least 18 to register as a DJ, sell music, or submit a booking enquiry. Fans subscribing or purchasing must be of lawful age in their jurisdiction and confirm they are 13 or over.
3. DJ Accounts
Accounts are created via Google Sign-In. You agree to provide accurate information, are responsible for activity on your account, and must not share credentials. The first 100 DJs receive full access free during the founding period (at our discretion). A paid Pro tier (~£12/month) is planned; separate billing terms and advance notice will apply.
4. User Content
4.1 Ownership. You retain ownership of all content you upload. You grant Beat ID a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to store, display, reproduce, and (for audio listed for sale) deliver it solely to operate and improve the Platform.
4.2 Your warranties. You warrant that you own or have all rights to upload, use, and sell your content; that it doesn't infringe third-party IP; that it isn't defamatory, obscene, abusive, or illegal; that press quotes are accurately attributed; and that, where you list audio for sale, you have accepted the rights affirmation statement.
4.3 Prohibited content. No infringing, defamatory, harassing, hateful, false/misleading, or illegal content (including under the Online Safety Act 2023), and no audio you don't have the right to sell (bootlegs, unauthorised samples, third-party-label recordings).
4.4 Removal. We may remove content that breaches these Terms or on a valid IP/defamation complaint, without prior notice. Report content at legal@beatid.me or via the report function on the release.
5. Music Marketplace — Selling
To sell you must be a registered DJ with a completed profile, complete Stripe Connect onboarding, and hold all rights to each release. Platform fee: 10% (Free tier) or 7% (Pro), deducted before payout; Stripe's processing fees are additional. We give 30 days' notice of any fee increase to sellers with active listings. Before listing, you must accept the rights affirmation statement (version + timestamp recorded). Prices are seller-set in GBP/EUR/USD (min ~99p/¢) and shown inclusive of VAT for UK/EU buyers. Audio is delivered in MP3 320, WAV, or FLAC. Payouts run via Stripe Connect on Stripe's schedule; sellers are responsible for their own taxes on income.
6. Music Marketplace — Buying
6.1 A purchase grants a non-exclusive, personal, non-transferable licence to download and listen for private, non-commercial use — not copyright ownership. 6.2 Download links arrive by email, are single-use, and expire after 24 hours; if yours expires, contact support@beatid.me with your receipt to reissue.
6.3 Refunds. Digital downloads are non-refundable once delivered, except within 14 days for: a corrupted/unplayable file, the wrong track, an accidental duplicate (same item within 24h), a platform error, or another verified technical issue. "Changed my mind" is not eligible and reasons must be selected from those categories (no free text). See the Refund Policy.
6.4 Consumer rights. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have a 14-day right to cancel; by requesting immediate download you consent to delivery before the cancellation period expires and acknowledge your right to cancel is then lost (Reg. 37(1)(b)) — this does not affect your rights for defective or misdescribed content.
7. DMCA and IP Takedowns
Rights holders may submit a takedown via the takedown form or legal@beatid.me with the work, the infringing URL(s), a good-faith statement, a statement of accuracy under penalty of perjury, and your signature. We expeditiously remove valid-notice content and notify the seller, who may counter-notice. We follow notice-and-takedown as a safe harbour under applicable law including the EC Directive Regulations 2002.
8. Community Content Reporting
Any user may report a release/profile (offensive/prohibited, possible infringement, spam, impersonation, or other). Reports are reviewed by our moderation team with no guaranteed response time; vexatious reports may lead to suspension.
9. Booking Enquiries
The booking system is a communication tool only; Beat ID is not a party to any booking contract and accepts no liability for booking disputes. Submitting an enquiry shares your contact details and message with the relevant DJ.
10. Fan Subscriptions
Subscribing consents you to receive that DJ's gig alerts and release notifications. Unsubscribe any time via the link in any email or by contacting privacy@beatid.me. Each DJ is independently responsible for lawful use of fan data.
11. Acceptable Use
You must not use the Platform unlawfully; attempt unauthorised access; introduce malware; scrape data without consent; use disruptive bots; impersonate anyone; send spam; circumvent download controls (including sharing tokens); or resell/redistribute purchased downloads without the rights holder's written permission.
12. Intellectual Property
The Platform, its design, code, logos, and branding are the IP of BEAT ID LTD. "beatid.me", "Beat ID", and "BEAT ID" are trading names of BEAT ID LTD.
13. Availability and Changes
We aim for continuous availability but don't guarantee it, and may update, modify, or discontinue features, endeavouring to give reasonable notice of significant changes.
14. Limitation of Liability
Beat ID is a profile, booking-facilitation, and marketplace tool; we are not a party to any sale contract — we act as a commercial agent facilitating payments for sellers. To the maximum extent permitted by law we exclude liability for loss of income, business, data, or indirect/consequential loss, and for claims arising from DJ-listed content. Our total liability shall not exceed the greater of the fees/amounts you paid in the prior 12 months or £100. Nothing excludes liability for death/personal injury from our negligence, fraud, or anything that cannot lawfully be excluded; consumers' Consumer Rights Act 2015 rights are unaffected.
15. Statutory Cancellation (Consumers)
Consumers buying a paid subscription may cancel within 14 days under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 by notifying privacy@beatid.me; refunds may be reduced for services already provided if you requested immediate access. This does not apply to the free founding programme; for downloads see clause 6.4.
16. Account Termination
You may delete your account at any time from account settings; your profile and listings are removed from public view and your data deleted per the Privacy Policy (active/pending sales are fulfilled first). We may suspend or terminate accounts for breach, suspected fraud/IP infringement, or where required by law, giving reasonable notice where possible; pending payouts may be withheld during a dispute investigation.
17. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, with exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. Please raise complaints first at legal@beatid.me; we aim to resolve informally within 30 days.
18. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms, notifying registered DJs of material changes by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
